Main Job Function • Overall management and control of the sales and distribution division as follows: • Strategy development for different channels to achieve differentiation and competitive advantage • Sales planning and tactics, local and exports • Human resource development and effective structures and skills • CRM development and implementation • Operational control of distribution centers incorporating stock management and service levels • Marketing plans incorporating brand planning, product selection and positioning, pricing structures and distribution. • Promotional and advertising plans for the group • Consumer marketing and communication planning and implementation • Financial control incorporating working capital, budgeting, margin management, opex control and capex planning • Administration and measurement – KPI’s and reporting • OHSACT compliance for all sales and distribution centres Main objectives: • Grow sales • Introduce new products • Acquire new customers and grow existing • Manage, motivate and train people • Control and improve operating costs • Expand geographic footprint • Build customer relations and loyalty • Improve margin and profitability • Control stock and debtors • CRM • Consumer communication and brand development • Promotions and advertising campaigns • OHSACT compliance • KPI measurement and reporting Line managers reporting in : • 2 regional domestic pool sales managers • 13 branch/distribution center managers • 1 national commercial pool sales manager • 1 national irrigation sales manager • 1 national retail channel sales manager • 1 customer services manager • 1 marketing/product manager • 1 export sales manager Central support services in HO • Finance, IT, HR, Procurement, Supply chain, Manufacturing, Legal • Also Spain HO as above available for support
Qualifications • Degree in management incorporating marketing and finance Experience/skills • 10 years in general business management, 5 years senior • Sales and marketing, distribution and warehousing, finance – working capital, income statement and balance sheet management including capex and budgeting. • CRM • Must have had large team under him • Provable successful track record • Bilingual • Marketing plans • HR – management and development Characteristics • Attention to detail • Assertive and persuasive • Versatile and able to adapt to different cultures and deal with different people. • Hands on and high energy • Ability to travel • Likeable and sociable – build relations easily – with staff and customers • Good ethical values and human principles • Healthy – medical test to be done before employment • Financially astute • Use science and logic not emotion in decision making • Customer centric and tactical in approach • Must be able to handle pressure and stay positive • We are looking for a top class general manager that is specifically skilled in sales and marketing, with distribution and warehousing and financial control as a beneficial extra.
