Software Engineer (Tools & Infrastructure) United Kingdom (Oxfordshire)

My client is an innovative forward thinking Robotics Company based in Oxfordshire

MUST HAVE:

  •  IT Degree or similar
  • One developed from a games house
  • Proven experience developing commercial software in C++
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Strong knowledge of modern software engineering best practices in one or more of the following areas: build systems, continuous integration, testing frameworks, binary deployment
  • Strong knowledge of modern software engineering best practices in one or more of the following areas: build systems, continuous integration, testing frameworks, binary deployment

EXTRA KUDOS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Build Systems (e.g. CMake, Bazel)
  • Continuous integration systems (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab)
  • Integrating Python with other languages (boost.python, SWIG, pybind11)
  • Software testing frameworks (e.g. GoogleTest, Catch, Boost test, pytest)
  • Code quality metrics (e.g. code coverage)
  • Static analysis in C++
  • C++ sanitisers and compiler tooling: Address, Thread, Memory, Undefined Behaviour

AVERAGE DAY:

  • Creating, developing and maintaining tools related to the various areas of the software development process, with a focus on increasing engineering productivity and decreasing risk
  • Developing production-quality software as part of a team
  • Working closely with other to improve workflows related to building, testing and deploying our software enabling the acceleration of product development
  • Driving adoption for best practices and helping establish a higher standard of software development to support continuous growth
  • You will be encouraged to share ideas within your team, actively working to bring others into the conversation while understanding their point of view
  • You will be talking with internal development teams in order to produce test tool and test plans
  • Communication with a large development team, maintaining documentation up to date
